Agreement signed Termini Imerese - will be a rebirth?

ROME - provide an investment of about EUR 1 billion, including public and private resources, the rebirth Termini Imerese.
The agreement, which will be formalized on Wednesday, 16, was signed yesterday between the Ministry of Economic Development, the Sicilian Region, the Province and the Municipality of Palermo and the Asi Consortium (Industrial Development Area) Termini, owner of the land.
The agreement provides for the conversion dello stabilimento a partire dal prossimo 31 dicembre 2011 data dell’uscita di scena della Fiat. A beneficiare degli investimenti saranno essenzialmente 7 aziende inserite in una short list dall’advisor Invitalia, che spaziano dalla produzione delle auto di lusso (la De Tomaso Di Gian Mario Rosignolo) alla floricoltura (Azienda Vivaistica Fratelli Ciccolella), tuttavia secondo Romani si potrebbe prospettare la possibilità in un secondo tempo di ampliare la lista, inserendo altre aziende con proposte e requisiti idonei alle esigenze del territorio.
Romani ha illustrato ieri ai sindacati il piano di riconversione, definendolo “storico”, in quanto, a suo dire, non prevederà loss of jobs, but rather an expansion in employment which would also involve the armature. CISL, UGL, UIL has been welcomed with satisfaction the solutions proposed by the Ministry. However la situazione a giudicare almeno dalle parole di Lentini (Presidente della Commissione delle Attività Produttive Ars) riserva ancora qualche nodo da sciogliere soprattutto in relazione alla distribuzione delle risorse: “Mi chiedo come verranno distribuiti i 400 milioni destinati alle nuove imprese interessate a Termini e mi chiedo soprattutto, come queste imprese siano state selezionate in assenza di un bando. Lo dico da cittadino, prima ancora che da politico, in una situazione delicata come quella di Termini non poteva bastare la procedura di pubblico interesse”.
