Hanno ragione Berlusconi e Tremonti: il Museo della Liberazione di via Rate in Rome is a body useless, even harmful. Harmful
, primarily for health reasons and image. What shape are we doing in the third millennium, to put a museum in a former prison (Nazi), unhealthy because the windows are bricked up again as they had left and Priebke Kappler, and unseemly because it has yet to clean the walls of graffiti left by the involuntary guests who have spent months and days (often the last) of their lives? Che esempio diamo ai giovani? Pensate che costa solo cinquantamila euro e ci lavorano tutti gratis meno il custode. Quasi immorale, si direbbe.
E ancora, dannoso perché coltiva argomenti sgradevoli di un passato sul quale sarà bene mettere una pietra sopra in nome del futuro, della riconciliazione e dell’ottimismo obbligatorio. L’ultima volta che ci sono stato, accompagnando studenti e docenti di un’università americana che non avevano la minima cognizione di che storia contemporanea avesse la città in cui si trovavano, ho visto che si sono fatti un’immagine di Roma poco turistica e poco consumistica– come anche la classe di liceali con cui ci incrociammo quella mattina. E qusto non possiamo permetterlo. Certo, gli studenti americani e italiani di quel giorno (e le migliaia che ci passano nel corso dell’anno) sono anche venuti a sapere che in Italia c’erano persone di ogni idea politica e di ogni classe sociale che hanno pagato col carcere, con le torture e in tanti anche con la vita la loro volontà di essere liberi e di dire di no al potere. Un brutto esempio anche questo, per le giovani generazioni.
Non ne parliamo più, insomma. Nell’immediato dopoguerra, le vedove degli uomini uccisi alle Ardeatine giravano per Roma in gramaglie, in cerca di un modo per sopravvivere insieme con le loro famiglie. In tante hanno raccontato che la città ne aveva pena, ma non se le voleva vedere around. Se l’amministrazione cittadina avesse un minimo di spina dorsale non si limiterebbe alle parole, ma dovrebbe dire: i soldi ce li mettiamo noi. Perché senza il museo di via Tasso Roma non sarebbe la stessa. Ma forse è questo che vogliono.
